Dra'xen
Dra'xen are a sapient species capable of human-like logical thinking, and a range of emotions vaguely reminiscent of human emotions, although not distinctly comparable. They are a race that has passed through civilization stages and out of the other side, although the species at the time of civilization are usually referred to as Droga.
The home planet of Dra'xen is considerably warmer than earth due to the actions of past civilisation, so much so that only very select life can survive on land throughout the hotter part of the year. Due to this, Dra'xen, among most other lifeforms on the planet, have evolved to be amphibious.
Although warm blooded, Dra'xen vaguely resemble earth's reptilian creatures in appearance, although not possessing scales or fur, but a hairless skin-like covering. Mature Dra'xen are bipedal in body structure, with three digit digitigrade foot structure, long, 4 digit hands with opposable thumbs, and a long, prehensile tail. Dra'xen have a muzzle-like facial structure with a much different internal structure and shape to those found on earth animals, which appears to be built to house semi-retractile teeth. They also possess large eyes with pupils that are capable of retracting to slits. These are generally lightly metallic grey or occasionally other faint colours with a slight metallic hint, and show no whites. Other sensory organs found on the head are two pairs of nostrils, presumably one being capable of breathing inwards and the other capable of breathing outwards, as an air filtering system which may move possibly toxic waste products away from the intake of air, and a pair of expressive sensory organs found on the back of the head, which may be used for hearing and feeling vibrations in the air. These are always held back behind the head, with the curved backs facing upwards.
Possibly the trait that most distinguishes Dra'xen from earth creatures is the presence of a sixth pair of limbs. These may have evolved from wing-like structures, and are found roughly in the area that shoulder blades would be found on earth creatures. Each of these limbs has four joints including the connection to the back, and are composed of a single limb without digits. Their primary use while on land is for display purposes, as they posses a brightly coloured pattern which is unique to the individual, much like human fingerprints, which serves to threaten and scare away potential threats, as well as serving as a way to identify individuals. They may also indicate the health of the individuals, as the colours may dull if the individual is malnourished or lacking in certain vitamins. Dra'xen skin is generally a shade of dark purple with slightly lighter purple markings, although the shade of the colour varies greatly, and can range from an almost completely black base colour, to slightly purplish blue, to a pale lilac shade. Despite this potential variation, shades closer to these extremes are considerably rarer, especially towards the paler end of the spectrum.
Dra'xen are primarily solitary in nature, only rarely joining up for company and for the rarer fully mature Dra'xen to find a mate. Despite this, Dra'xen stay informed on knowledge of past and present events via a weak collective memory, which remains as a vestigial remnant of telepathic connections possessed by their Droga ancestors. Dra'xen are more likely to come into contact with each other during the cooler periods of the year, when they live on land.
Dra'xen emotions vaguely resemble human emotions in nature, although they have many major differences. Clear emotions such as happiness and sadness are not found in dra'xen psychology, and although rarely triggered in usual social situations, anger is considerably more intense and uncontrolled. Dra'xen hold a mutual respect towards nature, but most hold hate towards the destructive nature of their predecessors.
